Cooking Basque Again! Robbie Has A “Cookbook Club” Challenge To Share!

Cooking Basque!

My foodie friend Jo has launched the latest Cookbook Club review series, this time highlighting the Basque region of Spain with this cookbook:

Today, the great Author and Chef Robbie Cheadle takes on the challenge with a dish that was a bit of a challenge indeed!

As she writes:

“The only suitable recipe was for Sukalki – A typical beef ragu. This recipe was similar to Hungarian goulash and is adjusted for the ingredients I could purchase locally.”

This is what happens to me at times, trying to cook from a specific region of the world – when the recipe calls for ingredients that are hard to find locally, and that is the challenge that Robbie had – but don’t worry, she managed a terrific dish anyway!

Yesterday, I shared my take on Basque food:

This “tortilla de bacalao” was like a fish frittata, and here is how I made it!

Jo started this edition of the Cookbook Club and it’s so much fun to take part in – you can see more about it with lots of links by clicking here – bravo Jo!

Speaking of cooking food from Spain, I am a huge fan of Paella:

This is a traditional Paella, so how did I do when I tried to replicate it?

See the result here!

Bravo again to Jo for organizing this series, and for all taking part in the cookbook club!

If you like the story, share it with friends on social media! Thanks!
