Heaven In A Bowl…
I love reading food blogs, where I discover so many incredible new recipes to try, especially when it involves unique products from around the world!
The Chefs Michiel and Jeen from the “Cook And Drink” site shared this recipe for a chorizo and octopus dish with their local mushrooms!
As they wrote on their blog:
Saffron Milk Caps (Rovelló de Botó) are very popular in Spain. The picture below shows fresh Saffron Milk Caps on the Mercado Central in Valencia.

This is what I love: local mushrooms that I probably can’t find, but why not look? They also offer this:
Alternatives to milk cap mushrooms include other edible mushrooms like saffron milk caps, false saffron milk caps, and king boletes, which have a similar flavor profile and are often found in similar habitats.

For a more readily available option, consider common varieties such as button, cremini, and portobello mushrooms(Agaricus bisporus), which are versatile and can be used in a wide range of dishes.
Chefs Michiel and Jeen also offer a delicious drink to go along!

As they noted:
We opened a bottle of Domaine Font-Mars Picpoul de Pinet. Picpoul de Pinet (Son terroir c’est la mer) is a white wine from the South of France between Narbonne and Montpellier. The terroir (think calcareous soil) is influenced by the sea, which is reflected in the mineral taste of the wine.
I plan to make this, but you will want to go to their website yourself for the recipe – click here for it!
As I said, I love reading other blogs and sharing recipes – they also had this one:

AS a beautiful looking dish!
See how to make it here:
The Chefs will also court controversy – like this hilarious story about how a pasta dish caused an international culinary incident!
Read the story here!
And remember when this local NYC favorite became a controversy as well?

This “Chop Cheese” made headlines when the grocery chain Whole Foods made a version that broke a few rule in a big big way – see the story here:
I am sharing and storing all of these recipes here on “Bite! Eat! Repeat!” – it’s your site for all things food – if you like what you see, please click on my link and follow this blog as well!
If you like the story, share it with friends on social media! Thanks!

I have a recipe coming up with octopus and chorizo. It’s such a wonderful combination! Those two can really cook. Wish I could find those shrooms…..
Im going to look for the most exotic I can find at New York’s farmers market in Union Square and do the best I can!
Thanks chef Mimi!
We don’t have those mushrooms here, but more than likely one of the local mushroom growers will find the little spores somewhere and give it a try!
I dont have them either but am going to look for the most exotic ones I can find at the Union Square Farmers Market and do what I can – thanks for the note!
Happy hunter-gathering my friend!
What an unsual combination of ingredients.
I thought so as well…I want to try it – I rarely cook with either Octopus or Chorizo! Thanks for the note!
While I quite like the tast of Chorizo, I do not like the texture of octopus… maybe another combination
Sure thing! Might not need another protein at all!
Thanks for sharing John, our pleasure!
I’m going to make this for my wife in a few weeks and will share the results – you guys have such great recipes, we will see what New York’s famous Union Square Farmers Market can provide in term of cool local mushrooms!
Absolutely love octopus AND chorizo so shall take a serious look here especially since mushrooms also come into play! Just ad hoc > baby octopi have become very popular on the Australian market – huge piles available in the deli section of the supermarkets even here in the country – great for the quick-cooking octopus recipes . . .
I have never even heard of those mushrooms, but would happily try that dish. Shared on Twitter, John.
Best wishes, Pete.
you’ve shared some interesting links to dishes and stories. Have a great Saturday.
You as well Robbie!
