Would You Drink / Eat A “Deviled Egg Dirty Martini?” Well I Did And Here’s How!

Behold The “Deviled Egg Martini!”

My good friend Audrey discovered this and she knew I would be “all in” to try and make them with her and my wife Alex!

A very important note: there are a lot of terrific “Dirty Martini Deviled Egg” recipes, which infuse a deviled egg with Martini flavors…but that is NOT what I am going to attempt – I’m talking about THIS!

It’s an actual deviled egg perched on top of a Dirty Martini!

This great recipe is from the “Delish” website – always full of great recipes with well-written summations like this:

“Salty, briny, boozy eggs just work! Topped with a Castelvetrano olive to give it the ultimate dirty martini look, these eggs are the most adorable hors d’oeuvre you will ever grace a party with. Bring these to your best friend who is obsessed with the dirty martini, and their party game will be forever changed.”

Here is the recipe to make them, and then I will show you my attempt to perch one over a Martini!

  • 12 large eggs
  • 1/2 cup mayonnaise
  • 1 Tbsp. vermouth
  • 24 Calvastrano olives, plus 1 Tbsp. olive brine
  • 1 tsp. kosher salt

Make your hard boiled eggs.

Bring a large pot of water to a boil. (For 12 eggs, use about 4 qt. water.) Using a slotted spoon or tongs, gently lower eggs, one at a time, into water. Return to a boil, cover, and reduce heat to medium-low. Cook for 12 minutes.

Plunge into ice cube water to stop the cooking and when they cool pell the shells off.

I cheated, and you can too! I bought a bag of hard boiled eggs already shelled and they work perfectly!

Slice eggs in half lengthwise. Scoop yolks into a medium bowl; reserve egg whites. Add mayonnaise, vermouth – yes vermouth!, olive brine, and salt to yolks. Using a handheld mixer on medium-high speed, beat yolk mixture until smooth.

Here’s how easy that was!

Arrange reserved egg whites on a platter. Transfer filling to piping bag fitted with large star tip. Pipe filling into egg whites.

Place a green olive delicately on top of the deviled egg. I didn’t use a toothpick, I just perched mine like this – ready to see how it worked?

You have to be VERY careful to balance the deviled egg correctly – let’s watch!

Voila! I you watched the video, you saw how difficult it was to perch this deviled egg on top of the metal toothpicks – but when we got it right, it looked cool!

Now, it looks cool, but you have to grab that deviled egg before you lift the drink up…I took a bite of the egg then a sip and it was great!

But What Happened To That Second Martini?

Well…as you can see, the Dirty Martini on the upper left was waiting for its deviled egg – and it got it!

PLOP!

Yes, that’s an olive-topped deviled egg sitting at the bottom of the glass – because it slipped through! Strangely, it didn’t come apart at all! We dug it out with our fingers and downed it in one bite!

I decided to try this again last night – same concept: I made the deviled eggs and then I made a very cold Dirty Martini – but this time, watch the mess I make when I decide to shake my martini a bit too much:

OK, a messy pour to be sure but now, time to perch the “dirty martini deviled egg” on top and again, it’s a very delicate procedure:

And It Worked!

Yes, the deviled egg stayed put this time – you can see just how close the chopsticks are in order to keep it from sliding through!

This was a lot of fun to try – and I have been on a Martini kick lately, including this “sky high” version!

I will be sharing a review of London’s world famous Connaught Bar and their Martini Cart soon, but here’s a sneak peek – their “sky high Martini pours!

I have shared some of our more interesting drinks lately:

Here are some of the more unusual drinks I’ve tried lately – enjoy!

With all the talk of “AI” taking over, it reminds me of this new-age bartender:

Robots!

Would you order a drink from a robotic arm?

See how they are mixing it up in Las Vegas by clicking on my story here:

And of course, if you really love robots, then Tokyo is the place for you:

Bikini Robot Battles!

Yes, a bit of Las Vegas in Tokyo, robot style! Giant bikini robot battles used to take place every night of the week!

Sadly, this has closed, but see the video here of what looked like a really fun time!
