Scallops! Potato Pie And Garum Too! Counting Down My Five Favorite Homemade Recipes Of 2023!

Who’s Hungry?

Well as you can tell, I was – but not just for this delicious hot dog from Gray’s Papaya – I was hungry all year long!

I will be sharing my review of Gray’s soon, but whether I was downing hot dogs or this incredible burger from J.G. Melon, 2023 was a year of food exploration, both here and around the world – like this Bistecca in Florence Italy:

You can see our entire meal in Florence by clicking on my story here:

These meals were all delicious, but I want to end the year with the 5 favorite things I made at home, beginning with these seared sea scallops over an untraditional succotash:

I added zucchini and lots of garlic to the dish and it has become my favorite “go to” meal…click here for the recipe:

I also began ordering special sauces from the #1 restaurant in the world, NOMA:

I used this smoked mushroom garam to make an incredible mushroom risotto…

They are shipping these NOMA products everywhere…clic k here for the recipe they provided with the sauce!

I am a huge fish lover, and this has always been a favorite of mine – and I made it three times in 2023:

I love the name of the dish and if you click on my story you can see the recipe and the reason they call it “crazy water!”

Sticking with fish, I took part in Bernadette’s terrific cookbook confidential series this year, and it led me to make this unique swordfish dish:

The sauce piperade is worth the effort and I plan to make this again in 2024 – click here for the recipe!

Finally, my holiday tradition continued, with what is probably my favorite dish in the world to make at home:

This “potato pie” is a showstopper at the table and a lot of fun to make as well! Here is the recipe and the story of where I first had it – in Paris of course!

There are many more stories about food to come in the year ahead, like my review of one of New York’s most legendary hot dog stands:

I will show you just why Gray’s Papaya is legendary…plus a look at New York’s new Bad Roman restaurant and much much more!
