Have You Eaten Lingcod? Here’s A Delicious “Cod In Green” Recipe From “Cook And Drink!”

Say Hello To A “Lingcod!”

A great food blog just posted a terrific recipe using “lingcod” – so what is it?

Here you go: “True cod” are caught throughout the world in almost all oceans, while “Lingcod” primarily live in the Pacific ocean along the west coast of the United States and Canada. Lingcod are jagged, strong fish that stand out as predators when compared to their true cod counterparts – as you can see….so what did Michiel and Jean do with it?

As they wrote on their “Cook And Drink” blog:

“Perhaps you would like to try ling? It’s similar to cod, perhaps more delicate.” We’re always happy to try something new, so we said “yes” to our fishmonger and bought a nice slice of ling. It’s an impressive fish with a length of 200 cm and its weight can be 30 kg. There is no data available on the size of the population per region because it’s a solitary, deep water species, which makes it a ‘fish to avoid’.

Here is what the Chefs came up with! “Cod In Green” looks delicious and you will want to read the rest of their post and get the recipe here!

I love fish of all kinds…I grew up in the Pacific Northwest,, and Lingcod was a common fish to eat….perhaps I will make it again this way:

In “Crazy Water!”

I shared this recipe for “fish in crazy water”, which would be a perfect use for lingcod – see the recipe here:

  1. When we lived in Seattle, my mother scuba dived, and once she speared a lingcod that was bigger than she was! I remember it was good eating! The cod on green looks wonderful!

  2. Lovely looking fish, John. I would definitely order those dishes.

    Best wishes, Pete.
