Need A “Baba au Mandarin Napoleon” Recipe? The “Cook And Drink” Chefs Have It And Here It Is!

I love to share recipes from Chefs across social media – and because I follow Michiel and Jean’s terrific website “Cook and Drink”, I cam across this.

Yesterday, April 27th, they posted this:

“we celebrate the birthday of the King Willem-Alexander of the Netherlands. The Dutch royal family is also known as ‘de Oranjes’, which is reflected in the use of the colour orange when referring to Dutch royalty. Actually, there is no link between the royal family and the colour. The ‘orange’ in their name refers to the French city of Orange, a Principality one of his ancestors inherited in 1544.”

Well, I was intrigued so I went to their site and saw this incredible looking dish, and I’m going to make it!

See the entire recipe at their website here:

I have shared other recipes from them before: they have a great website filled with recipes, cooking tips and more. Here is another Chef I love to share:

Carol cooks food from around the world in a great series called the “A – Z” of world cuisine! Check out one here:

I haven’t cooked much Indian food, although one effort involved a method known as “tiffin” cooking:

These eggplant rolls were part of my “52 in 22” cooking competition, and you can see the recipe here:

I always share my recipes, even when they don’t go right!

One of my disastrous efforts was when I tried to make Chef Michael Ruhlman’s “Mollet Egg”:

This image has an empty alt attribute; its file name is crispy-mollet-egg-with-asparagus-sauce-review.jpeg

Is this the way it was supposed to turn out – and can you really bread an egg while cupping it in your hand?

  1. Good choice, John. Although William of Orange had nothing to do with the colour, orange was adopted by protestants here, especially in Northern Ireland, where they wear Orange sashes to celebrate ‘King Billy’.

    Best wishes, Pete.
