Bite Down On The “Boomstick!”

With the latest season of Major League Baseball underway in the US, it’s time to unveil the wackiest new food begin served to fans!
What started as a goofy food experiment at Rangers Ballpark in Arlington, Texas became instead one of their most popular food items — two-foot-long hot dog known as the “Boomstick!”
How Did It Get That Name?
While you might just assume that a hot dog that LOOKS like a “broomstick” would naturally be CALLED “The Boomstick!’ But there’s more!
The hot dog was named after the baseball bat that was used by Texas Rangers slugger Nelson Cruz!
The $26 “Boomstick” is a 2-foot all-beef hot dog, smothered in chili, nacho cheese, jalapenos and caramelized onions, all on top of a massive potato bun. The whole thing weighs in at 3 pounds!
According to reports, the ballpark sold nearly 20,000 of the monster hot dogs during the 2012 season — the Boomstick’s inaugural year — raking in an estimated $500,000 in sales!
Even better, then Cruz was traded to the Minnesota Twins, THEY began selling “The Boomstick” too!
Would I bite down on “The Boomstick?” Maybe with a few friends to help out.

Yes, it’s a wearable sombrero packed with nachos!

Here Are Some “Polish Cannonballs!”
This is an homage to Pittsburgh’s Polish Hill community, so the baseball Pirates are offering these fried balls full of egg noodles, kielbasa, cabbage, bacon and cheddar cheese.
And what about this:
The Houston Astros have their own footlong ballpark dog – and look at these toppings! The “Daddy Mac Dog” also features brisket, mac and cheese and fried pickles!
And here is perhaps the most unique item to be sold in a stadium:
Helmet Tiramisu!
Yes, the New York Yankees are selling a tiramisu – in a mini baseball Helmet!
Made with espresso mascarpone cream, lady finger cookies and cocoa powder, it’s a home run for fans! In Seattle, they have a dish of a different color:
The Mariners have invented a corndog that is the color of the team’s logo, and is honey-battered and covered in a spicy, crunchy coating.
And even wilder, here’s what the Toronto Blue Jays are serving up:
Blue Cotton Candy Fries!
What can I say? You are either on board for this or not – you know what you are about to put in your mouth!
Back to hot dogs: sometimes they aren’t for eating, but for making art!

There was concern that this dish promotes food waste – but let me say again that these are for sharing – it’s for an entire table of diners, never a single person!
I completely agree that food waste is a terrible problem in the world – but I confirmed that this dish is served for a table of 8-10 people…here’s a closer look:
