Want Some Heat? Let’s Flame On And Cook With Fire!

Cooking With Fire!

One of my blogging friends shared an interesting story about “fiery food”, and I will share a link in a moment, but it reminded me that I am indeed a fan of flaming food!

Need proof? Well before I dive into food, how about a nice fiery drink?

Watch closely at the beginning – yes:

HE LIGHTS THE DRINK WITH HIS FIERY FINGERS!

Well that was impressive! How about the time a Chef set my hair on fire?

Well, not really, but based on how my wife Alex shot this, it sure looks like it!

I love how much that looks like I am cooking – literally! Let’s now check out some more fiery food I’ve had, starting with a nicely toasted piece of sushi!

If you want something equally as stimulating, how about some Peking Duck, finished at the table?

That’s the terrific Hutong restaurant in New York, where the fiery presentation of the Peking Duck is so much fun to watch!

We also had quite the elaborate cooking process when we ate at the world famous Alinea restaurant in Chicago:

What happens is they set fire to the herbs and let the meat cook inside – just one of the memorable fiery dishes we’ve had there!

See our incredible meal here:

I was inspired to share some of these flaming hot dishes because of a post from my friend Beth:

Thanks Beth for the inspiration…go to her website for more great ideas on how to “heat up” your kitchen!

I have shared many examples of “flaming” food like this:

It was all part of a terrific food adventure in Sardinia…see more of our food fun here:

I also shared this fiery dish we had at New York’s oldest restaurant:

Yes, it’s a “baked Alaska” – created originally at the restaurant!

See our entire meal here:

And one of our fiery food treats was disrupted – by the bacon and egg design on my phone!

This was a truly unique dining experience as well..see it here:

Finally, I will never forget the time Chef Michael Chiarello took to a blowtorch to finish a stuff pork loin dish:

Chef Chiarello died suddenly, and it was a huge loss to the culinary world…see his story here:

So there you have it, some flaming food!
