Have Your Tried A “Moon Viewing Burger?”
It’s an annual trend in Japan that I have shared before but guess what? KFC has revealed their 2025 recipes and they look great!
As always, the terrific website SoraNews24.com has the story. As they revealed:
“This year’s range comes with a muscly Chief Tamago Officer heading up the Human Eggification Project.
This is one of the previous burgers for sale – note they all have an egg….for a reason!
As SoraNews24.com reports:
“As autumn approaches in Japan, the food industry turns its focus towards the seasonal tradition of “Tsukimi” (“Moon-Viewing“) with elements that pay homage to the exceptional beauty of the harvest moon. The most common practice is to embellish meals with a fried egg, due to its visual resemblance to the full moon, and one of the best examples of this every year is at KFC.
This year, the chain says it will be enhancing the “torori” (“melty”) texture of the egg to emphasis the “egginess” more than ever before, with five products to choose from.“
They go on to note that “new for this year is the “Tamago Tappuri Tartar” (“Tartar with Loads of Egg”), which adds extra egginess to the fried egg and Japanese-style chicken cutlet that’s been soaked in a secret soy sauce-flavoured teriyaki sauce.”
“Another new addition to the lineup is the “Triple Tsukimi Burger”, which takes “egginess” to the next level with three gobsmacking layers of fluffy, fried-egg-style omelettes and 1.5 times more tartar sauce, presenting a true treat for diehard egg fans.”

When I was in Tokyo I never saw signs of all these interesting foods. Most of what I saw was traditional food. Perhaps because we did tours and they want you to experience the culture.
These are seasonal burgers that come out in late August for only a few weeks…I never saw them in person but would have tried them for sure!
