Who Knows “Adobo” And “Silog” Cuisine? Carol Has The “A-Z Of World Cuisine” From The Philippines!

Carol’s “A – Z Of World Cuisine” Is Back!

I love this series, and Carol returns with a trip to a place everyone has heard of, but not a lot of people visit! As Carol notes:

“The Philippines is most commonly known as the ” Pearl of the Orient Seas” (or Pearl of the Orient) due to its rich biodiversity, natural beauty, and strategic location in Southeast Asia.

With Spanish, Malay and Chinese influences the sweet, sour and savoury flavours are bold…Centered on rice, meals emphasize hospitality and sharing, often featuring dishes like adobo, sinigang, and lechon, alongside a rich street food tradition and the traditional kamayan (eating with hands)…and to save washing plates, food is often served on banana leaves.”

I love the detail she gives on the food and how it is prepared and consumed!

Adobo Pork is just one of the delicious recipes Carol shares! this is one I plan on making soon….and then, she also has some great insight on breakfast as well:

Carol also discusses the unique Philippine breakfast called “Silog”…so much great food on display!

See Carol’s full report here:

I love these stories, because Carol not only shares great recipes, but she celebrates the flavors and culture behind the food…and she highlights little known places like this – paradise!

Wow! Not only a gorgeous south seas island, but they have unique food too!

Here’s Carol’s report on Kiribati!

I have long had a fascination with this area, and have shared a number of incredible books about the region:

J. Maarten Troost has written three nonfiction memoirs about his time in his area and they are hilarious and insightful as well…see all of them here:

As for Carol, she shares an entire alphabet of terrific flavors from around the world, like this:

This is Hungarian Goulash, just one of the terrific flavors of Hungary…see what Carol shined a spotlight on here:

I was lucky enough to spend two days in Budapest, and got to try a classic local dish:

This Wiener Schnitzel with Spaetzle was incredible – and I ate it at Budapest’s famous Market Hall!

See my whole meal here:
