Day #2 of Bernadette’s terrific “Cookbook Confidential” reviews of Chef Otolenghi’s “Simple.”
As Bernadette posted:
This week, we are reviewing Otolenghi’s “Simple”. This is a terrific cookbook filled with mouth-watering recipes. The first guest review is from Michiel and Jeen, who write a fabulous food blog titled Cook and Drink. After reading their review, I know you will want to become a follower.
And you will indeed
!
Michel and Jeen then took over and gave us two recipes – and an entertianly honest and informative review as well!
As they posted:
“When Bernadette suggested to review SIMPLE, we borrowed a copy and decided to make two recipes: Tofu and French beans with chraimeh sauce and Quick okra with sweet and sour dressing.”
I was eager to read their review because Okra is a very rarely used food for me – click here to see what they thought with the result of their cooking!
This is day #2 of the review series:
The week began with a delicious sweet potato mash – click here for that recipe and review:
I love taking part in this series – it’s how I learned to make this unique Indian dish:

See my review here:
I will always share the results of my efforts, good and bad. And speaking of eggs, one of my disastrous efforts was when I tried to make Chef Michael Ruhlman’s “Mollet Egg”:

Is this the way it was supposed to turn out – and can you really bread an egg while cupping it in your hand?

Also, for all of you foodies, I am saving all of the recipes right here:

I’m an Ottolenghi fan. I have another one of his books, Hummus, which is a culinary gem!
