I Think I Have A Bacon Obsession!
Perhaps that is why I am so excited to be celebrating “International Bacon Day!”
According to the internet, here is how the whole thing came about and naturally, it was a result of wacky college kids!
First, a moment of reflection:
Ahhh…this should cover me for today.
“Bacon Day” was conceived in 2004 by a group of CU Boulder (Colorado) graduate students. Bacon Day in Manchester UK is celebrated by several students on the 14th January, prior to January examinations as a “distraction from revision.”
Whatever the reason, let’s celebrate doing what I love to do best – wrap bacon around something else!
A Bacon-Wrapped Deep Fried OREO!
I’ve had dozens of people send me this picture – and I am happy to have gotten it!
Who doesn’t love an Oreo cookie, and now imagine doing this to it:
I’m guessing you could bake these “Oreo bacon sticks” in the oven, turning once over…a pan could be messy, but who care, let’s try!
I’ve enjoyed a number of unique dishes that were wrapped in bacon, like these Korean-glazed hot dogs from a street vendor in Seoul South Korea:
I shared a video of some of the food stalls I found on the streets…check it out:
All of this street food was delicious, by the way. Speaking of delicious:
Remember when I told you about this? A massive and delicious bacon cheeseburger that doesn’t skimp on anything!
Clcik here to see more!
Bacon-Wrapped Pickles!
Yes, bacon can be used to wrap just about everything!
Bacon-Wrapped Food Madness!
Yes, we all need some “bacon-wrapped” inspiration, so check THIS out!
A “Bacon-Wrapped” Burrito!
For me, the distinctive “bacon lacing” is what makes this stand out to me…who’s in?
You can click here to see the recipe:
As I showed you, the street food in Seoul made liberal use of bacon – want to see more!
There was so much culinary creativity on display there – click here to see it all!
Now I will admit that not all “bacon-wrapped” recipes work…and I shared my disastrous attempt to make this:
Yes, my avocado may be smiling, but click here to see me try to wrap bacon around it!
You might not think of fish and bacon in the same recipe, but you should!
Yes, this “tomato gravy catfish” is topped with bacon – see the recipe here!
My food website “Bite! Eat! Repeat!” is your site for all things food – if you like what you see, please click on my link and follow this blog as well!
If you like the story, share it with friends on social media!
Thanks – and enjoy “International Bacon Day”!

Great bacon finds, John. Bacon definitely gives food a lift.
Thank you for the comment Robbie….wishing you the best!
I don’t think I am such a bacon fan as you, John however there are some great ideas here and I would eat fish with bacon 🙂
I don’t eat much of it but it seems to spark passion and I’m known for it, so I am riding the bacon wave! Happy weekend to you!
Happy weekend to you too, John 😊
