Welcome to one of the most beautiful sights in the world: the cityscape of Seoul, South Korea at night…

One of the great aspects of Seoul street life is the food: you can find it everywhere, and it is all delicious!

Seoul Street Food

Seoul is the capital and largest city in South Korea, with a population of more than 10 million. Seoul Capital Area, which includes the surrounding Incheon metropolis and Gyeonggi province, is the world’s second largest metropolitan area with over 25.6 million people.

As you can see, the street food was plentiful…and remember, you can also just order the corn dogs because they come embedded with fries – I walked along a row of street vendors and here’s a look:

Tie Your Fish Up!

I also found a great Seoul street market – a fascinating place to wander…where locals shop for all sorts of unique items, like fish that has been tied up with rope, or dried and flattened in a fan shape…

  1. Those dogs look intriguing

  2. Those crinkle-cut corn dogs look like something my grandkids would love …You never cease to amaze me with your findings, John 🙂

  3. John, I would eat most of these, but I might skip the dried fish. I ate that in China, and it literally left a bad taste in my mouth. 🙂
    Best wishes, Pete.

    • I know that they are used to flavor rice and porridge, and of course to keep them edible for lengthy periods of time…that said, it’s a cultural item that is a very acquired taste!

  4. HI John, these hotdogs look like a heart attack on a stick. I am practically living on vegetables, nuts and seeds and fish at the moment due to Michael’s special diet. I’ve lost 2 kilograms. I remember the fish market in Seoul. I also remember that they had fried squid as a snack in the cinemas.

    • It’s interesting that Asian cultures have lower heart issues, so these must be a special treat only! We are also going heavy on fish and green vegetables right now as well!

      • Yes, that is my understanding too, that Asian food is generally healthier. It is their forays into Western food that have brought about more health issues in these countries.

      • Indeed…I always admired that protein dishes usually have shredded meat or chicken, instead of the 14-18 oz. slabs they serve in the US…the balance of food is off here and they use protein to enhance a dish not overwhelm it!

      • Yes, that is true, but lots of protein is why American young men are so tall and muscular. I think the problem is lack of exercise and too much sugar and junk food as people get older.
