Would You Eat A “Cheetos Fried Chicken” Sandwich? Check Out These Wild Food Mashups!

How Do You Feel About Wacky Food “Mashups?”

I love to cruise the internet and see what the world is up to – especially in the world of food. Like the time KFC offered some parts of the world a bold and wildly over-the-top food mashup: their fried chicken sandwich and Cheetos!

According to The Daily Mail online, they actually brought the sandwich to America briefly to test it out:

“The chain first teased that it was testing the item in a few lucky locations in North Carolina, Virginia, and Georgia earlier this year, but the special Crispy Colonel fried chicken sandwich topped, which is topped with Cheetos puffs and Cheetos sauce, proved so popular that it is being released nationwide starting July 1.

But the sandwich — which includes fried chicken smothered in Cheetos-flavored sauce, a layer of mayo, and a helping of actual Cheetos snacks packed between the buns — is only available for a limited time.”

Since we’ve never heard of this attempt to add Cheetos to their menu again, I can assume people reacted poorly to this:

Remember this statue of a giant Cheeto? It shows what happens when you et them: your fingers turn to gold! See where they erected this homage to the Cheeto here:

And as for KFC, this mashup is nothing new – they have gotten a ton of press over the past few years by launching a whole array of wild chicken recipes:

They just look like seasoned chicken strips,, right?

Well they are, but they are made specifically to go with alcohol! See why here:

KFC seems to love experimentation with their product – I mean, ho many ways can you se;;; fast food chicken? Apparently a lot, so here are my three favorite food mashups from the venerable chicken restaurant:

Yes, a burger that has “fried chicken buns!” No worry about carbs here, and the buns for their burger were made with chicken! See the recipe by clicking here:

Here’s another wild idea they tossed out last year:

Pickle-Infused Chicken!Anyone who loves a chicken sandwich with LOTS of dill pickle, KFC saved you a step by injecting them right into the chicken!See that recipe by clicking here:

Umm…I would eat that in a hot second!

Finally, no fast food favorite was safe from the KFC wizards:

The “Double Down Hot Dog!”

That’s right, my third favorite mashup involved a hot dog bun made from fried chicken! See how that turned out by clicking here:

  1. Never had any of these because I don’t eat fried foods anymore (but did plenty in my younger days, why didn’t they have this stuff back then?). I think Sam the Cooking Guy has made most of these on his YouTube channel and it is very interesting to watch them being made. Also, his concoctions look delicious! Thanks for another great blog, John.

  2. Now, this actually looks good! We were watching “Tulsa King” last night and Sylvester Stallone was in NYC at the San Gennaro Festival.

  3. *huge smile* Is it terribly rude to read and talk about food and say ‘thank you for showing’ but the biggest ‘yuck’ and ‘health warning’ I can think of ?

  4. Looks interesting, would be worth a try!

  5. We have a soft spot for Cheetos, but not for KFC. Love the statue!

  6. Never been a fan of Cheetos, John. Count me out of this one. 😊

    Best wishes, Pete.

    • Pete, there is a lot of health coverage right now about “ultra processed” food…so while I share these stories as examples of wacky mashups, I also see people snacking on big bags of chips (your crisps) and they are packed with additives that are not good for them! Fresh fruit, nuts and veggies are the snacks for a longer life.
