Have You Made Bistecca alla Fiorentina – At Home? Here’s Chef Mimi’s Incredible Recipe + A Trip To Florence!

What An Incredible Feast To Make At Home!

I love food and I love travel, so when Chef Miimi shared this recipe I had to share it and add some favorite memories as well!

Mimi has made the iconic “Bistecca alla Fiorentina” at home – with a great twist!

According to the internet, bistecca (steak) alla fiorentina is an Italian dish of steak cut from the sirloin of a young Chianina cow. The name comes from the Latin word flōrentīna, which means “of Florence.”

Chef Mimi found a recipe with this unique ingredient:

Yep, she uses these terrific Italian Olives! I cannot wait to use them as well! See her entire recipe by clicking on her logo here:

Mimi always shares great recipes, and this one reminded me of an incredible adventure my wife had in Florence two summers ago – which included an incredible Bistecca here:

This is a legendary restaurant in Florence that specializes in the dish.

Here’s the incredible preparation at our table!

Note: they ONLY serve it ultra rare and it’s incredible! See more of the preparation and info on the restaurant as well by clicking on my story here:

Yes, Alex couldn’t wait to get this shot!

We love this restaurant and the history behind this iconic dish…we also got to see another unique “only in Florence” thing; a wine window! Take a look:

Yes – these are real and they date back to the black plague!

Click here to see the history of these wine windows and more shots of us getting served – as they are still in use today!

Of course, no trip to Florence is complete without a shot of this:

The Ponte Vecchio bridge over the Arno river is stunning any time of day, but here’s how it looks at night:

Now back to those green olives…I love them, but never find many recipes that call for them – well, until I found this:

This spicy salmon dish with green olives was delicious – see Chef Carolina Gelen’s recipe here:
