Hilarious “Soup Coolers” For Fall! My Favorite Chowder Recipe And Wackiest Chowder Discovery!

Summer’s Over But Soup Coolers Aren’t!

First: if you read this blog you know I LOVE retro food, and this ad is hilarious to me! Thanks to Beth at “I Didn’t Have My Glasses On” for sharing this!

What are “soup coolers?” Apparently Campbells wanted to start a food trend at some point! Beth wrote a really nice setup to go with the ad, so go check it out here now – then come back for some more soup fun!

I love soup. Why? Well, I love wet food – and that means soup is a real favorite of mine! Chowder is, for me, just a thick soup…stick plenty of wetness to enjoy, so I am going to give you one terrific chowder recipe and then give you one of the wackiest ways soup has been abused….ready?

Bermuda Fish Chowder!

This is perhaps my favorite chowder ever! It’s packed with fish, rum and sherry pepper sauce and I love it! Here is a video I shared of the last, most crucial step in the recipe: the rum!

The entire step-by-step recipe is here – just click on!

And because I have to: someone thought it was funny to do this to clam chowder:

Yes, it is a “New England Clam Chowder Popsicle.”

Is it real? Would you eat it? Would I? Find out here!

If you enjoy these posts, why not subscribe and never miss out? It’s easy, and there are NO ads of any kind, just stuff I like – food, food travel, recipes and more…click on the main page and “follow” me on the upper right…

  1. glad you enjoyed it, and the Bermuda fish chowder sounds amazing, not so much the popsicles

  2. As I mentioned on Beth’s blog, I can tolerate vichyssoise, but jellied and frozen soups don’t work for me.

    Best wishes, Pete.

  3. A chowder I love whatever the weather a chowder popscicle not for me …I do love the sound of that chowder though …

  4. HI John, a great innovation that some people will love. I’m not a cold soup fan and I only eat soup in the winter months.
