Who’s Got “Secret Olive Sauce?” George Motz Does!
May 28th was “National Burger Day” and while I’m a day behind, I arrive with some incredible “secret sauce” you must try! Read the Instagram post above from George Motz!
I love burgers and I love sauces, so this was a dream come true for me…George Motz, Mr. “Hamburger America”, posted this on Instagram…Autumn and Abbey Weston drove TWENTY GALLONS of “secret olive sauce” from Michigan to New York’s lower west side, and I had to go and try it!
There’s the restaurant and the special listing: crumbled beef topped with American cheese and Kewpee’s secret olive sauce….and here is the result:
Well, lots of cheese and meat, but where is the secret olive sauce?
Oh, just turn the plate around and voila!
Oh yes, you can see the slices of green olive in that sauce, which tasted like Japanese Kewpee Mayonnaise and a bit of diced red bell pepper! Here’s a look around:
It was delicious! The meat is well seasoned, the cheese has a nice creamy mouth feel, and the green olive mayo sauce is delicious! Bravo to all involved for this one!

I have been playing around more with videos, so here is an “ode to George Motz” and his Grilled Onion Burger…a music video with more pictures and clips to tell the entire story of the process…enjoy!
This cooking method reminded me a lot of the legendary White Manna Burger in Hackensack New Jersey…remember when I showed you this?
They also cook their burgers with the onions on the grill – but they purposefully keep their grill heat low to let them steam and sauté….and it works!

By the way, in their interview with Motz, EaterNY noted that he wanted the decor of Hamburger America to look as if it’s evolved, not the 1950’s “Johnny Rockets” version, but one that feels more like a diner, like Apple Pan in Los Angeles – where I’ve eaten!
The Apple Pan also has a counter to sit and watch them cook – but how was the burger?

I was just wondering how many different types of burger there are it must be hundreds… with an olive sauce sounds interesting 🙂
