Nervous Turkeys! Food And Festivities! Macy’s Parade Close-Up!

A Day When Turkeys Are VERY Nervous!

Yes, the United States of America is about to celebrate Thanksgiving. Here is how the holiday is described:

“Thanksgiving Day, annual national holiday in the United States and Canada celebrating the harvest and other blessings of the past year. Americans generally believe that their Thanksgiving is modeled on a 1621 harvest feast shared by the English colonists (Pilgrims) of Plymouth and the Wampanoag people.”

Happy Thanksgiving in advance to everyone, hope you get a chance to see some of the annual Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade!

Here’s a closeup look at last year, as we sat outside our apartment in a seat along the parade route – this is how close it got for us!

It’s an incredible display of floats and fun:

Of course, it ends with Santa and his helpers…then it’s on to thinking Turkey! I will share with you a few funny Thanksgiving memes from the internet:

And this is perhaps my favorite because there is indeed so much food!

With that said, I make a bacon-wrapped maple-glazed Turkey but love the idea of this:

This is a duck breast stuffed inside a chicken stuffed inside a turkey with dressing – and someone wrapped it in bacon!

See the result here:

If you plan a tradition Turkey, here’s a recipe that blew me away when I made it:

I wrapped a Turkey in a bacon weave and then glazed it with maple syrup!

Here’s the recipe!

And of course, you will need some tasty stuffing to go along this bird, right?

It just doesn’t get any better than this: White Castle slider stuffing!

  1. There’s a book of photographs out called “Come Join in the Parade,” I think. It’s by a woman who lived on the 5th story of a Manhattan apartment building so she had full view of the Thanksgiving parade. I’m sending it to my daughter, who always hated parades! But she’s 38 now…..

  2. Oooops, forgot to say Happy Thanksgiving!!!

  3. I love a good parade and this one is always great! Loved the jokes too. Have a fab day!

  4. A duck breast stuffed inside a chicken stuffed inside a turkey is a wonderful thing the one we had also has a pheasant in the mix a glorious meal..Happy Thanksgiving. John 🙂

  5. I hope you had a lovely feast!
Thanksgiving wouldn’t be right without the parade marching though my house as I cook and fuss.
