A “Botswana Burger” aka “Safari Slider!”
Today is “National Burger Day” and so of course I have to celebrate with a new creation for you – but guess what? As “All American” as the burger is, this one came from Botswana!

Welcome To Little Duma Tau!”
This is the incredible Wilderness Little Duma Tau lodge, on the Linyanti River in northern Botswana….a wonderful place – with so many wild animals literally all around you!
You see, as you relaxed at the restaurant terrace overlooking the Linyanti River, this was going on right in front of you!
Yes, Elephants and Hippos crossed the river all day and night!

So magical…because every day a boat would take you out on the river and you’d see them crossing by…really amazing. Check out these massive Hippos coming out of the river!
One day, after our morning safari, we sat down for lunch and looked at the menu – and they had a burger: THIS BURGER!

Wow!
Here’s a closeup look at the goodness:

This “Safari Burger” had fresh lettuce on the bottom, a thick beef patty, a creamy cheese mixture slathered on top of the meat, then bacon, more creamy sauce, pickled red onion and micro herbs on a very toasty bun – which had a red, beet-like coating – delicious!

This was a mouthful – and a surprise for us – we never expected to be served a delicious burger in the northern wetlands of Botswana!
We were more ready for this: when we were in South Africa at the incredible Singita Boulders Lodge, this was the outdoor cookout they put on for us:

Back in the USA, let’s head to a place that loves big burgers as well…but with MUCH more attitude:

Welcome To Paul’s Da Burger Joint!
Forget the sign: they were wonderful -but the walls of this lower east side New York burger joint are filled with notices to take your complaints elsewhere…but why would you when they put this down on your table?

I am having such a great time celebrating burgers this “National Burger Month” and of course “National Burger Day” today – would why not look once again at the most polarizing burger I’ve ever shared:

Yes, my “Guber Burger” – slathered with peanut butter – got a lot of polarizing comments, but it was great! See the recipe and how good it was here:
And here is one of my favorites – and most unusual burgers – from the wine country of Napa Valley California:

That’s burger with a VERY LARGE ring of cheese surrounding it like Saturn’s rings!
See how they do it at the “Squeeze Inn” here:
Sometimes the presentation is even better than the taste!
Like this for example:

Now that’s a great way to heat up your meal!

There you go, some exotic burgers from around the world for “National Burger Day!” Plus “Burger Beast” has all the deal you can enjoy today – check them out here!
