Kelly Clarkson Cooks With John Legend!
Kelly loves to cook on her daily talk show, and she did just that with her friend and fellow “Voice” Coach John Legend, who stepped into the show’s kitchen to make his Chicken Tenders!
As soon as the show aired, Kelly’s great digital team shared the recipe!
You know what that meant…
Time To Make John’s Chicken Tenders!
I will use any excuse to cook something new, and since it’s “Pumpkin Spice” season, I decided to make John Legend’s chicken tenders, substituting the cayenne pepper with October’s favorite new spice mix!
Let’s cook!
Here are the ingredients for the marinade – I have to admit that I NEVER cook with Buttermilk, so this was going to be interesting…
So, I poured the required amount of Buttermilk and the Garlic Salt into a bowl, then added my secret ingredient for Halloween season: some Pumpkin Spice seasoning…
I sliced the chicken breast into long strips, stirred the seasonings into the buttermilk, and then laid the chicken down in the marinade so it could soak up the flavors for a few hours…
Next, I put out my ingredients for the batter…as you can see, it’s flour, baking powder, olive oil, some more Pumpkin Spice seasoning and a little more Buttermilk:
I mixed all of the dry ingredients together well, then poured in the quarter cup of Buttermilk…it didn’t seem like much, but it did give the flour a bit of a flakiness:
Put the recommended amount of oil in your frying pan and turn it on to medium high.
Now, time to grab the marinated chicken and bread it:

Next up, heat your oil and get frying!
Now that the chicken is in the frying pan, it’s just a matter of letting each side cook 5-6 minutes:
Nothing sounds better than something frying in a frying pan…need proof?

Once done, take them out and lay them on a plate, where their glistening goldenness is just waiting for you to enjoy!
It’s fun to just make an easy recipe, and not get too complicated:
That’s what I thought I was doing when I made these “Potato Chip Scrambled Egg” – but guess what? It took two tries to get it right!

Speaking of eggs, here are two different recipes that take full advantage of them:
