Grab Your “Double Double!” In-n-Out Expands As National Cheeseburger Day Looms!

Bite Down On Your “Double Double” – I’ve Got Big Cheeseburger News!

For those who don’t follow national holidays, it will be “National Cheeseburger Day” on Thursday, Sept. 18…so to get you ready, I’ve got some great cheeseburger news!

In-N-Out announced plans to expand eastward again, opening its first corporate office and restaurant in Franklin, Tennessee around 2026, and planning additional restaurants in New Mexico and Idaho.

Why do you care? Because here is what one of the “double double” burgers looks like up close:

This regional burger chain offers up some of the best food you can get – from a relatively small menu:

Oh, but there is much more which I am about to show you….for those unaware, In-N-Out has locations in California, Arizona, Nevada, Utah, Texas, Oregon, Colorado, and Idaho.

The fast food burger chain called “In-N-Out Burger” opened its doors on Oct. 22, 1948 in Baldwin Park, a suburb of Los Angeles California.

The distinctive building a sign will draw your attention, as well as the never-ending LONG LONG LONG lineup of cars all day and night – you can order inside or at a drive-thru, and there is always a crowd waiting to order this “Double Double!”

Their “Secret” Menu!
In the 75+ years since it first opened, the chain has slowly expanded throughout California, Arizona and Texas, and it’s mystique has grown as well – mostly because the chain refuses to expand east – oh, and they have a wild “secret menu” as well!

Try The “Protein Style” Burger!

Yes, In-n-Out has a fairly extensive “secret” menu like this, which is exactly what you expect: all protein, no bun! Instead, the burgers and cheese are surrounded by lettuce, tomato and onion, plus their secret sauce!

The “Animal Style” Burger For Mustard Lovers!

This is the most well-known secret menu item: it’s a patty that has been grilled with a coating of mustard, then they add pickles, and lots of grilled onions smothered in cheese!

The Legendary “Animal Style” Fries!

Yes, they take your french fries, smother them in grilled onions, cheese and sauce, and serve them up looking as good as they taste – and on this day, I got them with a “double double” – two patty burger, the most popular one they serve!

The burgers are delicious, and the loaded fries are as well. There are no plans at this time for an expansion to the east coast, so you will have to head west to try these burgers…that said, burger fans on the east coast have their own special burger:

Behold The “Shake Shack” Burger!

While Shake Shake is expanding everywhere, it got it’s start in New York City, and it’s an amazing burger as well – I recently bit down on their truffle burger:

This chain is also expanding rapidly across the country – you can see what they serve and if their “Smoke Stack” measures up – see my review here:

Speaking of the best burgers in America, Taylor’s Refresher from Napa Valley would also like to weigh in:

This is one of their cheeseburgers, and I have to add that they make the best onion rings I’ve ever had:

Here is my review of Napa’s legendary hamburger stand, as well as the story behind their epic burger battle:

And of course, the great “:Burger Beast” has all the upcoming deals for National Cheeseburger Day – see them here!

  1. What a difference words can make . . , looking across the Pacific I am smiling but somewhat wondering exactly what the difference is here > another ‘secret’ sauce or ??? Good luck to them since they are doing well . , ,

    • It’s a bit of a thousand island sauce, but what makes them so popular is how fresh the burgers are – all made to order, and the wide array of “secret” menu items that fans flock to…thanks for asking!
