Edible Wrapers! Go Brazil, Go!

Talk about a great idea – why not serve a burger in a wrapper that you can eat as well?

This happened at Bob’s Burgers in Brazil, but in the years since it hasn’t caught on, as I still don’t see any “edible” wrappers for my burgers here…oh, and the burger inside has sort of a “Big Mac” vibe, doesn’t it?

Bob’s Burgers has the tagline, “Não dá pra controlar,” which, loosely translated, suggests their sandwiches are so irresistible you can’t control yourself!

I wish I could taste one of these…it doesn’t really matter if it’s any good, does it? I’d just love to get a taste and experience the unique texture!

Speaking of edible wrapper, I shared this story a while ago – Chef Nigella Lawson using a banana wrapper – its skin – to cook with!

Well, that’s a great way to use something that is normally thrown away – would you eat this?

I also shared this “unique” recipe from Actor Robert Pattinson:

Yes, it’s a “pasta pillow” sandwich and here is the recipe if you dare to follow “The Batman!”

I have also cooked with Spam…lots of a lots of Spam:

Did I really cook this vintage retro “Spam Cheese Loaf”? Click here to see!

  1. Wow, I think I would try that just to say I have…:)

  2. Edible wrappers is an interesting concept and their use depends on the purpose of the wrapper. If it’s to keep the burger together then it’s a great idea. If it’s to keep food clean and germ free, then it’s not such a good idea.

  3. it doesn’t appeal to me at all, but I’d try one bite just to experience it

  4. Reminds me of the Japanese candies with edible wrappers, that we ate when we were kids. Made of rice if I remember correctly! But on a hamburger? I guess I’d try it, why not?

  5. I would have to try it, and it does save litter and staff time cleaning up. But the burger inside does look less than ‘inspiring’, sadly.
    Best wishes, Pete.
