Celebrating Culinary Visionaries!
A terrific celebration of visionary Chefs just dropped on YouTube today – I have the link, and an inside look at the creation of “Chef’s Table Honors!”

For the first time ever, Chef’s Table is turning the spotlight around. Chef’s Table: Honors premieres Thursday, October 15 exclusively on YouTube!
A kitchen doesn’t define people by where they come from, but by how far they can go.
When Chef’s Table premiered in 2015, it changed how the world sees chefs. It treated cooks as artists, kitchens as places where people reinvent themselves, and a single plate as a whole life story. Over the past decade the series has taken audiences around the globe, turned restaurants into pilgrimages, and inspired a generation to cook, travel and dream bigger.
Chef’s Table: Honors is how we say thank you. The legends of the series, including Thomas Keller, Mashama Bailey, Massimo Bottura and Nancy Silverton, return to celebrate five honorees. These are the mentors, changemakers and quiet heroes who are building a better future for food and opening kitchen doors for people who were told those doors would stay shut. It’s a night to celebrate the people behind the plates, and the belief that the pursuit of excellence should never come at the expense of joy.
Hosted by Tom Segura.
There will be tears. There will be toasts. There will be at least one “holy sh*t.”
Here’s a taste of what’s to come:
My wife Alex worked with a great team, who captured all of the humor and heartwarming stories about what makes a Chef strive for culinary greatness!

Along with the very entertaining awards event, each Chef is profiled in beautifully made features of each awardee:

Dr. Tim Ryan went from washing dishes at 13 to leading the Culinary Institute of America. He is the first Chef honored at Chef’s Table: Honors. ✨
Dr. Ryan tells the story of his path from dishwasher to culinary legend. He was the first in his family to go to college, then found his calling at the Culinary Institute of America (CIA). He wanted to be the world’s greatest chef. He chose to teach instead, and he became the first faculty member to rise to CIA president, and then its first chancellor. He’s a Certified Master Chef, holds an Ivy League doctorate, and has competed twice at the Culinary Olympics. Generations of chefs got their start at culinary school under his mentorship. As he says:
“I could change the culinary world by staying here… I did it through them.”
Here is a taste of his inspiring story:
I went to the Culinary Institute in Hyde Park, New York while Alex was filming with Dr. Ryan – here’s a quick look at the amazing campus where the world’s future Chefs are trained:

Back at the awards show, Alex and her team capture the camaraderie among Chefs, and also introduce Rasheeda Purdie, another award winner.

Chef Purdie has an incredible story: she made a huge career pivot during the pandemic and now runs “Ramen By Ra”, and New York ramen shop!

Her acclaimed restaurant only has six seats, served breakfast ramen like this, and her story is incredibly inspiring!
Iconic Chefs Thomas Keller and Nancy Silverton also hand out awards and the entire event is a love letter to Chefs and the passion they bring to their culinary art.
Oh and it’s hosted by Comedian Tom Segura!

My wife got to taste Rasheeda’s incredible ramen, and for those who follow this blog, you know that I am obsessed with ramen – here’s an example: I do this every single time I order a bowl:

Rasheeda makes breakfast ramen as one of her specialties…remember when I shared this?

I bet hers runs circles around this Cup Noodles version, but it sounds like fun – check it out!
I also shared this on my regular website, and I included a tour of the Culinary Institute of America campus in Hyde Park New York – see it here:
