Who Loves An Iconic Food Market? Biting Down On London’s Borough Market!!

London Calling!

Time to do some food travel!

My wife and I joined our friend Yvette on a foodie trip to London recently, and that meant we headed straight to one of the world’s greatest food markets!

Borough Market is London’s oldest and most iconic food hub, boasting a culinary history that stretches back over 1,000 years.

Situated under historic railway arches in Southwark, it stands as one of the world’s premier destinations for artisan cheese, fresh British meats, international street food, and vibrant produce.

The Schedule “Of The Rents!”

Look at this original sign that announces the cost of selling your produce at the market – “back in the day” as they say!

Let’s take a look inside as Alex and Yvette explore:

There are so many places to eat, so let’s start with Mrs. King!

This is traditional British cuisine: Scotch Eggs and Meat Pies!

Crowd Strategy: Here’s a tip: the market is most crowded on Saturday afternoons. For a more relaxed experience with shorter lines, aim for a weekday morning (Tuesday through Thursday).

Alex and Yvette shared a classic Pork Sausage Roll, then it was onto Oysters!

You can order fresh Oysters shucked in front of you, with a”bump” of caviar if you like!

Of course I love seafood so I had to visit my friends:

Everything fresh from the sea, laid out for you to choose from! If you don’t want to cook, there are plenty of places serving food as well.

I could go crazy at a stand like this one:

A big “YES YES YES” to the Fish Finger Sandwich!

England’s incredible Cheese is on full display as well:

Need Some Cheese? Neal’s Got You Covered!

Here’s a terrific cheese shop inside the market, packed with special cheeses:

The Neal’s Yard Dairy location at Borough Market is an iconic London cheese shop renowned for its exceptional selection of artisanal British and Irish farmhouse cheeses.

It offers a highly interactive experience where knowledgeable cheesemongers routinely encourage visitors to taste cheeses before buying!

There is a never-ending array of fresh food and produce in the market, like these amazing mushrooms of all shapes and sizes:

Special Events: If you are visiting between October 6–11, 2026, stop by the Market Hall for the TERN Pop-up, which spotlights refugee-owned food startups. Starting November 30, 2026, the market kicks off its Christmas hours and expands to a 7-day schedule complete with festive lights and hot mulled cider!

And while you are there, don’t forget the Paella!

This Paella Bar has massively large pans filled with this delicious Spanish dish:

There is literally every kind of food here, whether a traditional Scotch Egg, or delectable desserts like this!

We had a blast there – before heading over to see this guy:

Yep, “Big Ben” was out on a beautiful sunny day – perfect weather to sightsee:

Oh and I almost forget to mention the most “Instagrammable” item at the Borough Market:

Chocolate Covered Strawberries!

Yes, “the kids these days” are lining up to get a shot with them – click here to see how the phenomenon started!

This was just one of our great food adventures…another involved sky high martinis!

Take a look!

We ordered this Martini at one of the world’s greatest bars – see our entire experience here!

Some of you longtime readers know I am a bit obsessed with this British dish:

Fish ‘n’ Chips…the greatest…so I had to get some in London – and I will also share my fried shrimp debacle – see that story here:

Speaking of dishes with a UK connection connection, I offer up this:

Yes, it’s “Spotted Dick!”

And remember when I made these very unique deviled eggs – with a Martini twist?

A “Dirty Martini Deviled Egg” Martini!

Yes, it was the most unique Martini I’ve ever attempted and see how I did by clicking on my story here!
