Bite Down On A Big “National Burger Month” Celebration!
California’s most famous burger chain just announced plans to open up a massive new location in “Viva Las Vegas!”
What a perfect time to do it as we celebrate the burger this month – let’s get some details!

It’s Probably America’s Favorite “Cult Burger!”
For those unaware, the fast food burger chain called “In-N-Out Burger” opened its doors on Oct. 22, 1948 in Baldwin Park, a suburb of Los Angeles California.
In the 75 years since, it has built a stellar reputation – based on how incredibly good their burgers are!

From the unique signage to the delicious food, this western US hamburger stand is always packed….and I found this image below, showing the new Las Vegas location – thanks to JT Cruz who posted this on Instagram, along with great details:

Well, did you know they were based on a movie?

It’s An Homage To “It’s A Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad World!”
Yep, this 60’s comedy with Spencer Tracy and a wacky cast ends here, overlooking the pacific ocean – under criss-crossed palm trees! Here’s the history of why the movie did it – and why In-N-Out pays homage to it!
As for the largest In-N-Out restaurant in the US, it is in Barstow, which sits on the very busy I-15 freeway in the Mojave Desert between Los Angeles and Las Vegas.

That location is massive, and Las Vegas will be close!
If you haven’t been to an In-N-Out, which is still only in a handful of US states, know that it all comes down to this:

The “Double Double!“
Their most popular creation, the “Double Double” is two 100% pure beef patties, two slices of melted American cheese, crisp lettuce, tomato, and onion, topped with their signature spread on a toasted bun.
And they are always made fresh when you order! I bought one recently from the drive-through and decided to sit in my car and film it for you – and in the spirit that I share my mistakes, here is my “Double Double Disaster”:

Oops! Well, they can’t all be Oscar winners!
Still, I couldn’t ruin the majesty of this “Double Double”, really one of my favorite burgers of all time!

Absolutely delicious, and their most popular burger: “2 times 2” (double meat, double cheese) is topped with lettuce, tomato, onions (raw or grilled), and their signature spread on a toasted bun…burger perfection!

In the 75+ years since it first opened, the chain has slowly expanded throughout California, Arizona, a few in Texas and Tennessee, and now the new one in Las Vegas – and its mystique has grown as well – because they have a wild “secret menu” as well!
Here are the most popular of the “secret” items they sell!

Try The “Protein Style” Burger!
Exactly what you expect: all protein, no bun! Instead, the burgers and cheese are surrounded by lettuce, tomato and onion, plus their secret sauce!

The “Animal Style” Burger!
This is the most well-known secret menu item: it’s a patty that has been grilled with a coating of mustard, then they add pickles, and lots of grilled onions smothered in cheese!

The Legendary “Animal Style” Fries!
Yes, they take your french fries, smother them in grilled onions, cheese and sauce, and serve them up looking as good as they taste – and on this day, I got them with a “double double” – two patty burger, the most popular one they serve!

In-N-Out’s “No Flavor” Fries!
Now, going rogue here for a moment: if you get the fries here, you MUST get them animal style, because their fries simply don’t have any flavor! I’ve been told to order them well done, but if that’s what it takes to give them a nice potato flavor, no thanks…seriously, the only big flaw in the “In-n”out” legend…so, get them like this or not at all:

Their are still no locations in New York, but East Coasters, don’t complain too much, because you have a pretty spectacular chain or your own:

Behold The “Shake Shack” Burger!
While Shake Shake is expanding everywhere, it got its start in New York City, and it’s an amazing burger as well – see my review of their famous “Smoke Stack” here:
And here’s another incredible burger – located in California’s Napa Valley wine country!

Behold “Taylor’s Refresher!”
This is legendary, even though you will find a different name on the building…why?
Here is my review of Napa’s legendary hamburger stand, as well as the story behind their epic “name change” burger battle:
