“Come On Baby” New York Burgers! In Japan! McDonald’s Madness Up Close!

Who Wants A “Square” New York Burger? I Do!

Does this ad make you hungry? Curious? Both? I just love the name for these – “come on baby” indeed!

As always, the terrific website “SoraNews.24.com” has a terrific look at what McDonald’s is doing in Japan – with these wild “Come On Baby” Burgers!

As the website reports:

“Last year, McDonald’s surprised its customers in Japan with a new series of burgers called “Itta Ki Ni Naru N.Y. Burgers“ (“I Feel Like I Went to N.Y. Burgers“). The unusual square-shaped burgers were designed to take our taste buds on a trip to the Big Apple, at a time when there were still restrictions on international travel, and they proved to be so popular that they’re making a return this year, with a new lineup of fillings.”

Interesting they sell these as “square” burgers, as I live in New York and have never seen one this shape!

SoraNews takes us through each unique burger – starting with one of my favorite – the Shrimp Burger!

They report:

“N.Y. Deli Shrimp Tartar (490 yen) combines crunchy lettuce and tomato with a plump shrimp cutlet and special tartar sauce. Lemon and three types of herbs — basil, rosemary, and thyme — are added to onions and salted olives to make the refreshingly tart sauce, creating an “exquisite harmony” between the main ingredients.”

Sounds delicious!

Next up is this delicious chicken sandwich:

“The N.Y. Buffalo Chicken, for instance, combines juicy, spicy thigh meat, crunchy lettuce, pickles, and a slightly sweet mayo sauce. The crispy battered chicken patty is seasoned with two types of chilli peppers to give it a smoky flavor, and is made from a single thigh for extra juiciness.”

Finally, what could be better than a burger with potato on it?

SoraNews24 describes it this way:

“The N.Y. Thick Beef and Potato (530 yen) delivers the delicious flavours of an all-American burger and fries in every mouthful. The addition of smoky bacon and rich cheddar cheese helps to complement the big beef patty, while the tomato-based beef gravy sauce, which contains garlic and onions, helps to give this one its own unique addictiveness.”

I love this, but remember this is my favorite slider of all time:

Yes, I put fries right on my burger, along with some mozzarella cheese and tartar sauce too!

  1. These sound so good, especially the shrimp

    • Yes I agree! I’ve had a shrimp burger a few times and they are delicious! They aren’t made by many here in the US – and anyway, it continues to fascinate me how much Joan loves wacky burgers! Thanks for commenting!

  2. Hi John, it is amazing how Japan has embraced hamburgers. I suppose it’s something quite different from traditional Japanese food and we all like different.

  3. I have never seen a square burger anywhere, but I would happily try those you featured.
    Best wishes, Pete.
