Who Wants “Colorless Coffee?” How About “Coffee Jelly?” Here Are Wild Coffee Products Like “Weasel Coffee” Too!

Yes, I am someone who needs a large cup of coffee in the morning to get going, and what’s wrong with that?

I put a bit of whole milk in mine, but what if I was served a cup that had no color at all?

Celebrate “Colorless Coffee”!

I had to share this: a company developed “colorless coffee”, which they say has all the flavor you demand, with none of the staining!

As reported in the press when it was announced a few years ago:

“Two Slovakian brothers are promising to protect coffee lovers from stained teeth with a concoction they’re calling the world’s “first colorless coffee drink.” It looks like a bottle of water, but CLR CFF is a “potent, cold brew,” per the Evening Standard. Self-described heavy coffee drinker David Nagy says he came up with the idea with brother Adam while in London, and the brothers aren’t sharing their production process except to say it involves methods never used before. They say it’s safe, however, with arabica beans, water, and no chemicals or sweeteners. The label notes that a 200ml bottle has 100mg of caffeine, on par with a typical cup of coffee.”

Well, I would give it a try! I found a review online that said it was not that strong in terms of flavor, and had a slightly yellow tint…can’t find anywhere that sells it so let’s see if it takes off!

Of course, this coffee sensation reminded me of a unique coffee I tried:

Coffee Jelly

“Coffee JELLY!”

Nothing better than “coffee jelly” to get you caffeinated – yes, and I bought it from a machine!

Of course, there is only one place you go for such a treat – one of the greatest places on earth to explore: the exciting night lights of Tokyo!

Tokyo’s Vending Machines!

Of course, Tokyo is famous for all of their vending machines – they are EVERYWHERE, on virtually every single block.

Tokyo vending machines

My Producer Corrado LOVED his vending machines….he had to make sure I understood how important they were to him…he actually WASN’T trying to shake it down…

Even our Host, Alex Sim-Wise, used a bit of downtime to shop at the vending machines…the rain wasn’t about to stop her!

The reason we love the vending machines is simple: where else can you get a nice icy cold can of COFFEE JELLY?

Coffee Jelly

Yep, I found this unique drink in one of Tokyo’s vending machines, and I had to give it a try…

John Rieber and coffee jelly

I got my can, which props out of the machine ice cold. I will spare you the suspense: coffee jelly is EXACTLY what you think it is going to be: a coffee gelatin, like espresso jello – you suck it out of the can and squish it through your teeth…I mean, I think so, it wasn’t like it came with instructions…if that’s not for you, try this instead:

Yes, “Hard” Coffee!

I have no idea why it’s called this and yes, it’s a coffee drink too…in fact, there are a ton of different coffee drinks – both hot and cold – that you can buy in vending machines in Tokyo, along with a ton of different waters and sodas – see more here:

Finally, my friend Sabrina brought me a special gift from her trip through Southeast Asia:

Yes, it’s “Weasel Coffee!”

If you haven’t heard of this unique coffee, it’s thought to be the world’s most expensive – because it comes straight from this guy!

Yes, the coffee bean is harvested AFTER it goes through this guy – an Indonesian “Palm Civet” – or “weasel” for short…as you can see here:

IT IS A PREMIUM WEASEL PRODUCT!

I have more interesting trivia to share, along with my own taste test – see it here:

I don’t know about you, but after weasel coffee and coffee jelly, I can’t wait to try “colorless coffee!”

  1. I want my coffee to be black, beautifully robust black.

  2. not drawn to clear coffee at all

  3. No stain coffee sounds good to me, John. It would be a bit of a mindset change to drink coffee that looks like water but life is full of change.

  4. Fascinating!!! I can’t imagine putting whole milk in that, which is what I also do!!!

  5. Absolutely love your writing and all the wonderful information I get from your pages – but NO, NO, NO – I would not like one single item you have shown here . . . coffee for me has to be hot and totally black with just a tad of sugar in it! Drunk in my house about 3-4 times a day but especially at breakfast 🙂 ! Yes, am close to where civet coffee comes from – do not know whether I have had such! And love Tokyo and am curious what is sold in those vending machines these days but the one you show – well, I might try 🙂 ! Thanks with a smile !!!

    • I am a coffee with a bit of milk person, and clear coffee would be a “taste it to say I did it” then move on…it was cool to buy coffee jelly from a vending machine but it’s exactly what you think it is so understand the lack of interest…thanks for the comment!

  6. My first thought was that it’s no big deal. But then I think about it and realize that I spill my coffee all the time freaking time. When we had Business Formal, I swear I messed up more ties. Ugh. But here’s the question. Do they have it with milk and is it still clear. Ha, ha.

  7. I prefere my coffee black. But juice to

  8. I would probably try the clear coffee just out of interest, but the jelly-can coffee doesn’t appeal at all.

    Best wishes, Pete.
