Want “Seafood” Cup Noodles? I Did And Here’s What I Did With Them!

As always, this story begins with my favorite website “SoraNews24.com.” I have shared many of their terrific stories and will have a few more at the end of this one, but it was their taste test recently of this Cup Noodle flavor that made me want to try it – and Amazon sold them so I ordered a six pack, got it delivered to my house, and got cooking!

Interesting note: they are called “Cup Noodle”, NOT “Cup O’ Noodles” – that was a US twist on the name. In Asia, there are many unique flavors, and this one is no exception!

The “seafood” flavor comes from dried calamari and fish cake inside, along with dried cabbage and various other things…but I thought:

“hey, I own it now, why don’t I enhance it?”

So I did!

I bought some sashimi tuna and salmon, two shrimp tempura, as well as some frozen pork and crab Shu Mai….I explain my plan in this video:

So now it was just a matter of making some Cup Noodles and enhancing them with those extra ingredients – take a look:

As you can see, this is a very fast and easy recipe – the longest part was pan frying the Shu Mai for ten minutes…other than that the noodles themselves come to life after just three minutes in hot water!

Folks, this was delicious! As the SoraNews24 review stated, the broth has a bit of a vanilla smoothness, and the added elements turned what is usually a snack into a very satisfying meal!

I liked how the hot broth cooked the tuna and salmon, and the shrimp tempura soaked up a bit of the broth. The Shu Mai were a nice meaty touch as well!

A very filling and satisfying meal to be sure!

Now a shoutout to my Facebook friend Jeff. When I shared the teaser photo of the stacked cups, he sent me this note:

“Just cup of noodles or all the various Asian dried noodle soup products? Also should have a section on “dorm room” modifications to original recipe which was a big thing when I was in college living with Chinese, Korean, Japanese, and Hawaiian Americans. I still add sesame oil, oyster sauce, fish sauce, raw egg, dumplings to my late night foraging.”

Well, indeed I focused on what you can add to make these much more satisfying, and I have also shared stories of all the various products in Asia, like this:

This is the Cup Noodle “Mystery Meat” and you can buy it in a box to use however you want! Here’s the story SoraNews24 shared about all of the unique recipes you can make with it!

And Cup Noodle apparently has a goal to satisfy your hunger 24 hours a day!

Yes, you can start your day this way and I’d love to!

  1. I’m a fan of cup noodles, especially with all the mods.

  2. Hi John, you are very innovative 😋

    • I think everyone who knows what Cup Noodles are just uses them as a quick snack, but I also heard from some people that in school they would tell classmates about all the ways they’d bolster them cheaply to be a more filling meal…the things we do when we are poor! Thanks for the note

  3. We call them Pot Noodles here, and they usually taste very ‘artificial’. It certainly looks more appetising as a meal in your ‘enhanced version’, John!

    Best wishes, Pete.

  4. Iy looked a lot better after you had worked you magic

    • I had a friend remind me that in college the key was always to figure out how to bolster them for taste and for a more complete dinner – usually with the cheapest extra ingredients you could afford! Thanks for the comment!
