Welcome To Jerry Seinfeld’s Favorite Hangout!
Fans of the classic TV comedy “Seinfeld” are very familiar with this: it’s the exterior of Tom’s Restaurant, where Jerry, Elaine, George and Kramer spent many a meal!

While the interior shown here was actually built on a soundstage in Hollywood, the show did use the exterior of the restaurant every time the foursome convened for a bite to eat! Recently, I posted my favorite NYC burgers for “National Cheeseburger Day” on Sept. 18th and in that story I teased an iconic NY restaurant where I was going to celebrate – and it was Tom’s!

See, I have proof! Tom’s is on New York’s Upper West Side, where Jerry Seinfeld lives, so it was a nice touch to use the exterior on the show…take a look:
Tom’s is at 112th street and Broadway, and so on “National Cheeseburger Day” I walked the 50 blocks from my apartment to celebrate with Tom!

Of course I had to start, as Jerry always did in the show, with a hot cup of coffee – served in a classic diner mug. Then, it was National Cheeseburger Day so I had to try one of theirs – here is the menu:

As you can see, there were 9 different burgers to consider and tons of extras to add as well….but I ordered the classic preparation: the deluxe cheeseburger, served with lettuce, tomato, a pickle spear and French fries…and American cheese, which is a very very mild cheddar-type cheese.
Here’s what came out:

This is, to me, a classic New York diner burger: nicely cooked patty with melted cheese, tomato slice and crisp lettuce…let’s take a walk around this:

It all came together well: I particularly liked the crisp lettuce and large slice of tomato – a and perfectly melted cheese as well…

OK, enough staring at it, let’s dig in:

Exactly what you want in a cheeseburger: the burger was juicy and flavorful, perfect blend of flavors, and some nice fries on the side…a winner for National Cheeseburger day!
And Tom’s got me back soon after:

Because it’s a diner it has a massive menu, so I went back to have some breakfast: fried eggs over easy, hash browns and toast….

Again, perfectly cooked, flavorful and exactly what you want when you go to a diner for an “all American” breakfast….bravo Tom!
I also shared another iconic “Seinfeld”” location with you:

Yes, this is the real location where the infamous “Soup Nazi” sold soup – and it is still open!
Here’s my taste test!
I ate this burger at Tom’s on “National Cheeseburger Day” – the same day I shared this post – with three great burgers along with the world’s worst…click here to see where they sell that one:
Since we are talking iconic New York eateries, it’s go to the place where Harry and Sally had a bite to eat:

They filmed this scene in the iconic Katz’s Deli on New York’s lower east side – so I ate there too and here is that meal:

That looks like quite a classic burger John! I’d go for the veggie burger with a bunch of stuff on top, but the fries look really inviting!
Yes, you have a lot of options on how to enjoy it – I loved that it was “home” to Seinfeld’s gang…thanks for the comment!
This looks like a great burger 😀
It was a classic “diner” burger here…simple but tasty! No wasted space!
👍🏻😄
