Ready For A Slice Of Mayo?
It’s Friday as I post this, and “What The Friday?!?!??!” indeed! Yes, a company is selling Mayonnaise by the slice!
My friend Lamya Shelly tagged me on a story about this so I put on my “Investigative Journalist” hat and found the origin on this story!
Of course, it was from my favorite website SoraNews24.com, where I get so many of my wild Asian food stories!
Here’s how this madness began: the Japanese company Bourbon – who specializes in Chocolate NOT Bourbon – released a unique product several years ago: “sheet-like chocolate ganache” – yes, they are “slices” of chocolate!
With the success of their “chocolate slices”, the company had a bold new idea:
Mayonnaise By The Slice!
As SoraNews24 reports:
Bourbon is now introducing two new “sheet-like condiments” to its Kantan Cooking (“Simple Cooking”) lineup. One is a tuna mayonnaise sheet, and the other has the flavor of mayonnaise and mentaiko (spicy cod roe, which blends with mayo for a creamy, piquant flavor).
Well, that actually sounds good!
It’s A “Sheet-Like” Condiment!
Yep, that’s how they describe this unique mayonnaise!
The company is on a roll, as they are also releasing an “apple butter white chocolate slice” as well!
Here’s their entire story:
Remember, “sliced condiments” are nothing new: I had this “Ketchup Leather” a few years back on a burger:
This burger was terrific – you can click here to see how they make their “ketchup leather”:
I also shared this story as well:
It’s “Bacon Jello” and I do not apologize. See what it is, and more importantly WHY it is, by clicking here:
And let’s not forget the time I drank this:
Yes, I bought Coffee Jelly from a vending machine and here’s how it tasted:

Hi John, I think this is a great idea. I would be very happy to put a mayonnaise slice on a burger.
Thanks Robbie – it’s a polarizing idea to be sure but I’ll try it!
😀
ohhhh my.
At least with a slice of mayo there is less chance of it spoiling a clean shirt…just saying 😊
There you go, find the positive! It’s funny but Mayonnaise is a very polarizing condiment! Thanks for the note!
Always a pleasure paying your blog a visit, John 🙂
I have never liked mayonnaise, and I always ask for burgers, salads, etc with “No mayonnaise”. You have to be careful when buying french fries in Belgium, as the vendor wil slop mayonnaise all over them if you are not fast enough to say no!
Best wishes, Pete.
Pete, when I bought fries in Amsterdam, the dollop of Mayo was massive, and I loved it! I’ve always noted that mayo is a very polarizing condiments..perhaps because I grew up on tartar sauce in Seattle..you see, I don’t like any tea but green, but I assume you grew up on it in England…
Yes, I have strong tea with a little milk. It is a ‘brick’ colour when served correctly, we call it ‘Builders’ Tea’ here. Green teas and Chinese teas taste like washing-up water to me! I don’t like Tartar Sauce either, or Salad Cream, which is popular here.
☕
I’m all in on trying the chocolate version, and not really sold on the mayo, but would try it. I love fresh mayo
It’s not some sort of “dare” for people, it’s meant to be a portable way to take condiments with you – hey, I’d tryst – but I know that mayonnaise is a very polarizing ingredient for people!
Yes!
