Oven-Baked “Bourbon Butter” BBQ Ribs! Here’s What I Made And How I Made Them!

Who Likes BBQ Ribs?

Well, I think most everyone, but since I grew up in Seattle, there wasn’t a lot of BBQ in my life growing up – not the “real” BBQ you find in Texas, Kansas City and the southern part of the US…but when I found a recipe for a “Bourbon and Butter BBQ” I had to try!

Bourbon And Butter And Ribs – Oh My!

Yes, how can you go wrong with those ingredients? Not only that, this is a very easy recipe: you need a rack of ribs, some bourbon and butter!

While you can also cook these in a smoker or grill, I baked them in an oven at 225 degrees.

Remove membrane from back of ribs. Slide a butter knife into the bone-side of the rack of ribs and make a small slit. Grab the membrane and pull it off.

Once oven is at 225 F degrees, place ribs on tin foil sheet. Sprinkle rack of ribs on both sides with salt and pepper, then top with 2 Tbsp of butter. Pour 3 Tbsp bourbon over them as well. Yes, you can have a sip yourself if you want!

Add another foil sheet on top of the ribs and crimp to seal tightly. Place foil pack of ribs in oven and cook for 2 hours.

I bought these two sauces from Pepper Palace and combined them in a 50/50 ratio. Then I did this:

After two hours, carefully remove ribs from oven and take off top foil…brush ribs with bbq sauce. Place ribs back in oven or on grill grate and grill for 1 hour.

Then take out and enjoy like this!

As you can see, they glistened from the sauce, and that small pool of bourbon butter in the foil was poured over the top of the ribs for an extra bit of shine!

For an amateur, I was very happy with how meaty, juicy and flavorful these ribs were!

I made a video that shows the entire process, you can click here to see it!

I rarely BBQ – growing up on the west coast of the US, it just wasn’t part of my culinary journey…but I have been trying to do some new stuff, like these chicken drumsticks with a very unique glaze:

Yep, I glazed these drumsticks with Pepsi Cola – and it was amazing!

See how and why I did it here:

My wife Alex wasn’t originally thrilled about the concept of “Pepsi Chicken”, but she liked them as well – not a huge fan of the sweetness, but it’s diluted enough by the soy, ginger and rice vinegar to keep it within bounds…I decided to make these because I saw “Pepsi Chicken? potato chips – just one unique Asian flavor – look at this one:

Hot And Sour Fish Soup Potato Chips!

Yes, this is a real potato chip flavor as well! It’s one of many I found – you can see them all here:

I am trying to make new unique recipes like this one – my first effort to make a British Pork Pie:

I cooked a traditional British Pork Pie from scratch and loved it!

Here’s the recipe:
