Behold “Jiro Ramen!”
First, what exactly IS “Jiro Ramen?” Well, thanks to the intrepid Reporters at
SoraNews.com, here’s the answer!
Jiro-style ramen is a genre of noodles characterised by massive toppings that was started by a chain called Ramen Jiro, and its generous servings quickly garnered a fanbase that proudly refers to themselves as “Jirolians“.
So imagine when the “Jiro Chefs” decide to take their supersize portion idea to pizza?

Well, SoraNews24.com has the results!
This terrific website covers “everything Asia”, from pop culture to travel destinations and of course food!
Here’s how SoraNews24 describes this new mega-pizza: “domestically sourced pork back fat, which imparts a “melty” texture in the mouth, along with cabbage for sweetness, seasoned chashu pork for real ramen flavour, and thick noodles to help bring it all together. At the heart of it all, though, is a special sauce made with garlic and three kinds of blended pork bones, and it’s said to be so flavourful it could be mistaken for ramen broth.“
So here it is: a “Jiro Ramen” Pizza!

There’s an entire pie: pork back rings the pizza, with cabbage and pork sitting on top of ramen noodles, with a sauce that isn’t tomato by a long shot!
So that’s what a “ramen pizza” is, and here’s a slice!

So, it certainly looks unique, but how does it taste?
I don’t want to give it all away, because you need to head to their website to see much more of the taste test and their review – its terrifically entertaining as always from Reporter Oona McGee!
I love Japanese food and culture – whether its traditional sushi, isakaya or ramen – or one of these unique takes on their food – like this one – a “ramen and tempura bar!”
And if you love ramen like I love ramen, then you’ll love this:

I ate a burger with a ramen noodle bun – here’s where I had it and how it tasted!
Of course, I also found a ramen dish that may be even too extreme for me!

Would you see “Piranha Ramen?” Click here for the recipe!
And if you are still thinking about ramen, how about his:

These scenes are from the great film “Tampopo” – a movie that loves ramen noodles! Click here for my “dinner and a movie” with a look at the film and recipes from the movie:

For a moment I thought you were referring to Jiri Ono, the sushi chef that features in Jiro Dreams of Sushi 😊!

No, just happens to be the name! My wife and I tried twice to go there but it’s so difficult…oh well!

His restaurant must be truly special! We noticed they have very strict rules for reservations. Hope you’re lucky next time round!

Yes, we will try again but sometimes you just have to resign yourself to eating at another place that will hopefully be as good – thanks for the comment!
